The Wrong Problem
A well known phenomenon in most organisations is the tendency to jump to solutions. This jump, however, not only leaps over possible causes and other potential solutions - it also misses the crucial stage of defining the problem.
The consequences of working on the wrong problem potentially have three types of outcome:
- The real problem is addressed but with insufficient resource and attention
- The real problem is not addressed at all
- The real problem is made worse
These impacts apply to individuals, organisations and globally/universally
